Anderson and Rosin Receive Coaches Association Recognition
Erik Anderson has been selected to All-State Academic team by the Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches Association. Seth Rosin was selected to the All-State team. Danny Miller from Eden Prairie was selected as the Player of the Year.

Spring Trip Update Following 2nd Informational Meeting
A second informational meeting was held on August 29th.
At present there are over twenty $100 deposits from seniors and juniors that have been submitted. Thus, it looks very strong that the interest is sufficient to support a Spring Trip.
With additional deposits verbally committed from juniors and seniors and expected shortly, it is likely that we will not have room for sophomores. While this is a likely outcome, it is not yet a definite…
The deadline for $100 deposits is Tuesday, September 4th. There is a Diamond Club Booster Club Meeting that evening at 7:00PM in the Cafeteria at MVHS.

Spring Trip Likely for 2008
Based upon the level of interest by parents/players, a spring trip is being pursued by the Diamond Club for 2008. Assuming the level of interest continues to be high following two upcoming informational meetings in August, plans will be finalized in September.

Summer Fun At the Sandlot Program Concludes
The Summer Baseball Program at MVHS supervised by Coach Downey concluded this week. Over 40 students in 6th - 12th grade participated. The community education supported program ran 4 days/week from June 18th - July 31st. On any given day, 20 or more of the participants attended. The program was unstructured; with students able to come and go as they chose. They were able to utilize several different hitting stations, as well as the significant acreage of the MVHS practice field area. Many of the High School students came daily for 20 minutes to take some batting practice following their weight lifting at the High School. Other participants stayed 1-2 hours/day - many times culminating in a whiffle ball game... The regular attendees received "5000 Swings" t-shirts for their committed efforts to improve their hitting over the course of the summer. All proceeds went to the Mounds View High School Baseball program, and will be used to purchase some storage equipment and batting screens. Coach Downey plans to continue the program in 2008, with thoughts for expanding the program to incorporate a pitching component.

National High School All-District Teams Announced
Seth Rosin was selected to the National High School All-District Team. Danny Miller (Eden Prairie), Mike Kvasnicka (Lakeville North) and Tyler Rank (Rochester Mayo) were also selected to the District 5 Team.

Mounds View Coach Brian Sprout selected to play in American Association All-Star Game
Mounds View Assistant Coach Brian Sprout will join St. Paul Saints teammates Brian Winnery, Marcel Longmire and Brent Krause in the American Association All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 17 in
