Diamond Club Meeting

Meeting called to order by Randy Reichert at 7:05.
Minutes from April meeting:
Motion made by Ben Gallagher to approve April minutes. Motion seconded by Gordy Eicher. All in favor; motion carried.
Treasurer's Report:
John Hoffman reviewed the activity for April. The opening balance was $10,002. The disbursements in April totaled $1,242 less an amount of $423 credited for spring trip meal money not used, leaving an account balance of $9,183.

The following items were shared by Coach Downey: new field, summer baseball, summer fun program, and high school season.
New Field
The first steering committee meeting was held April 2. Since then, Bob Madison has met with neighbors surrounding the school to address their concerns about traffic through their yards, field lights, and their right to have a say in the process. He will be at the
Summer Baseball
Tryouts for 16-yr old VFW and SAYB Senior Babe Ruth will be held this Sunday, May 11.
Summer Fun Program
The program will run concurrently with the MVHS summer Weight Training program. New this summer is the program for 1st - 5th graders as well as a pitching program once/week.
High school season
Total games for JV/Varsity will be 19, while Sophomore and Freshman teams will play 18 games.
Bjorn Anderson will be assisting Tim Flaherty with the Freshman team and will be paid $300.
May 21 will be the senior "Youth Memories" day at Sitzer.
A season-in-review booklet is in process and will include rosters, pictures, newspaper articles.
Looking ahead to 2009, the Metrodome will not be an option for practice over spring break due to NCAA Div I first and second round basketball games being held there.
Old Business:
1. Pizza pals: Gordy Eicher reported that he had 30 coupons remaining. Money needs to be turned in by May 9.
2. Game day experience: John Hoffman reminded us that a Varsity picnic will be held tomorrow with a final picnic at a sub-section game. The freshman game at Kohler on May 8 will be announced with a picnic to follow. The JV game at McCullough on May 14 will be announced with a picnic to follow. And, the Sophomore game at McCullough on May 16 will be announced with a picnic to follow.
3. Player apparel: Joe Bothwell not present.
4. Year-end banquet: Karin Wessberg and Diane Hershey brought a ticket order form to the group for approval. The question of cost was discussed at length with a majority voting on a price of $18/person. The final form will be sent to Coach Downey on Wednesday and he will have copies made for distribution to his coaches.
5. Picture update: Not much interest, by the players, has been expressed in a panoramic photo.
