Diamond Club Meeting

March 2, 2009

Members present:  Coach Downey, John Hoffman, Mike Blumer, Jessica Hagemann, Dave Stacy, Mark Anderson, Patti Nouis, Gordy Eicher, Jeff Kohen, Dion Wikstrom, Marquetta Nickols, Dan Nickols, Mary Anderson, Ken Porten, Kevin Stoltman, and Bob Freed.

The meeting was called to order by Mike Blumer at 7:57.

Minutes from December meeting:

A motion was made by Dan Nickols to approve the February minutes. The motion was seconded by Marquetta Nickols.  All were in favor; the motion carried.

Overview:  Mike Blumer:

v     Car Wash - further discussion for a car wash fundraiser on Sunday, April 26^th - 9^th and 10^th graders in one location; 11^th and 12^th at another.

v     Pizza Pals - Pizza Pals coupons will be distributed and payment received on March 28, 2009 at the Super Saturday event at the new field at MVHS. Further information will be distributed after team selection has been finalized.

Coach Downey's update:  (See complete report attached and on-line)

v     Student Council has asked about selling a few concessions at the baseball games. More discussions to follow.

v     Coach Downey has also been approached by Subway and pizza establishments about selling their food at the games. We will keep you posted on this decision as well.

v     Coach emailed about 78 alumni about the alumni game scheduled for Sunday, June 14^th.

v     On Saturday, March 28^th, all players will be asked to assist in setting up the new field. Parent involvement will be appreciated. Lunch will be served (watch for information on how you can help), uniforms will be distributed, and pictures will be taken.  Please save this date!!

Treasurer's Report

v     John went over the February report. The Diamond Club will be donating about $7500 to the new field, which will be doubled due to the generous donation of an anonymous donor. This should leave around $6000 in the account for the 2009-2010 season.

v     A new Treasurer will be needed after this year. It is helpful if this person attendz the May and June meetings in preparation for taking over. Freshman parents, please think about taking over this important position!!

Vice President's Report:

v     Updated report emailed 3/2/09.

Other Business:

v     Dave Stacy provided an update at both the "Let's Play Ball" meeting and the Diamond Club meeting.  Details are on the website.  

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 with a motion by Jessica Hagemann and seconded by Dan Nickols.  All in favor.

The next regular Diamond Club meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7^th.   We encourage parents of all players to become involved. We have several senior parents who will be leaving the Diamond Club and we will need new involvement from all parents. Please consider joining us on April 7^th.
