Diamond Club Meeting
May 5, 2009
Members present: Coach Downey, Mike Blumer,
The meeting was called to order by Mike Blumer at 7:06.
Minutes from April meeting:
A motion was made by Dion Wikstrom to approve the April minutes. The motion was seconded by Mark Anderson. All were in favor; the motion carried.
Fundraiser
Max Devet came to talk about the football and baseball teams working together at the TCF Stadium food court in the fall. We would split the proceeds based on the number of volunteers per team. It is estimated each team (football and baseball) could make between $3,000 and $5,000 if the teams work all seven games in 2009. It was discussed looking at the time involved and profit made compared with bagging groceries or working at the compost.
Overview: Mike Blumer:
v Thank you notes went out to the donors from the January silent auction.
v The cookouts have gone well - we've received good feedback. The last cookout for Varsity is this Friday, May 8th. We'd like to encourage others to come and watch the games, not simply to come for the food. Due to budget constraints we won't advertise the cookout this week.
v Senior Day is Friday, May 15th - the players and parents will be announced and pictures will be taken. This event will begin right at 4:00. Flowers will be purchased for the senior moms as well. Diane Hershey is coordinating this event.
v Diane is also taking care of obtaining the coaches gift certificates for the May banquet.
v End of Year Banquet - the coaches' tickets along with their significant others, and the managers' tickets will be taken care of by the Diamond Club. If all of them attend, there will be 25 tickets paid for by the Diamond Club.
v At the banquet, the Diamond Club will be giving the field committee $6,000 toward the new field. With the match, $12,000 will be given to the field.
v Tri-City Spaghetti Dinner is June 4th from 5:00-8:00. Please attend to help raise funds!! It's all-you-can-eat for $12 per person.
v Election of Officers - Mark Anderson is running for President; Julie Becker is running for Vice President; Jessica Hagemann is running for Secretary, and Jim Hoyme is running for Treasurer. All were voted in unanimously.
Coach Downey's update: (See complete report attached and on-line)
v
v Summer Fun program - remember to sign up - very informal and only $35.
v Coach will do the Senior Memories Day again. The boys will drive to Sitzer and reflect on their years of baseball, finishing up at DQ!
Treasurer's Report:
Jim Hoyme went over the April report. Current balance is $20,600. We expect to carry over $6,000 to next year.
Vice President's Report:
v Alumni Game is June 14th. It was decided to have the field committee pay for the alumni picnic. In the future the Diamond Club should add this as a budget item. Coach has emailed about 80 alumni; 30-40 have responded favorably. He'll look for a firmer commitment as the date nears.
v 13 banners have been sold - there is still room for seven more.
v A contact for each team is contacting the player's families for brick sales.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 with a motion by
The next regular Diamond Club meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2nd. We encourage parents of all players to become involved.
