History/Records - Coaches

Scott Oberg: Coach Oberg began his Mounds View baseball coaching career as the Freshman Coach in 1999. He coached the JV in 2000, and was the Varsity Assistant Coach from 2001 - 2006. The 2006 team was the Section 4AAA Runner-Up, and the 2003 team won the Suburban East Conference Championship. He is a graduate of Apple Valley High School and Northwestern College. Oberg teaches US History and Government at Mounds View High School, and he resides with his family in Blaine.

Rich Opitz: Coach Opitz coached the Freshman team for 3 years, 2005-2007. He is a graduate of Mounds View High School where in 2003 as an All-Conference Player he led the Suburban East Champion Mustangs in batting with a .442 batting average and .610 slugging percentage. Opitz was selected for the Lions All-Star Game following the 2003 season. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, and is emplyed by Piper Jaffray and Company. Opitz plays amatuer baseball for the Tri-City Sharks, and he resides in Minneapolis.

Tom Schuh: Longtime Coach Tom Schuh stepped down from his baseball coaching duties following the 1997 season in which the Mustangs finished 20-4. Coach Schuh coached in the Lions All-Star game in 1997. He also was a teacher and coached soccer at Mounds View High School.

Chris Schwartz: Schwartz was the Mounds View Head Coach for the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons. His teams were Section champions in 1999 and 2000. The 2000 team finished third in the State Tournament, and the team was State Tournament Consolation Co-Champion in 1999. Schwartz is currently an Assistant Coach at St. Olaf College, and he is the owner of Keep In Touch Massage. He and his family live in Farmington.

Brad Tullberg: Tullberg was the Mounds View Head Coach from 2001-2006. His 2006 team was the Section 4AAA Runner-Up, and the 2003 team won the Suburban East Conference Championship. He was also a Mounds View Assistant Coach during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. He is employed by the City of Roseville. Tullberg and his family live in Roseville.
