Bjorn Anderson - A 2006 MVHS graduate: Anderson played in 28 games for the Bethel Royals as a senior in 2010. His on-base percentage was .310 on the season, and he produced 3 doubles and a triple at the plate. In 2009, he appeared in 33 games, fielded .933 at 3B and contributed 6 doubles and 16 RBI's as well on the season. Bjorn played in 5 varsity games as a freshman in 2007, and he missed the 2008 season due to studying abroad in Australia. Bjorn helped coach the freshman team at MVHS in 2008.
Erik Anderson - A 2007 MVHS graduate: As a junior in 2010, Anderson appeared in 38 games for the Bethel Royals, hit .342, and slugged .567 in producing 13 doubles, a triple and 4 HR's. He also was 6 for 8 in stolen bases in 2010. In 2009, Anderson hit .323 and slugged .554 with 18 RBI's for the Royals as a sophomore in 2009. He started 22 games as a freshman in 2008; he hit .338 on the season for the Royals, and was 4 for 4 in his first collegiate game. Erik also played on the Bethel football team in 2007 and 2008. At MVHS, he was an all-conference player as a senior and junior, All-State Academic in 2007, and selected to play in the Lions All-Star game in 2007.
Josh Balzer - A 2009 MVHS graduate: Balzer threw 57 innings on the mound for Northwestern College of Roseville, with 27 strikeouts and 4 complete games. He also plays football at Northwestern. Balzer pitched 23 innings for Mustangs as a senior and was a MVHS Mustang Award winner (3 sports all 4 years of high school).
Brad Blumer - A 2009 MVHS graduate: Blumer is attending Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma where he was redshirted as a freshman. He was a 2-year varsity player for the Mustangs; as a senior posting a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings pitched.
Sean Flaherty - A 2004 MVHS graduate: In 2010, Flaherty slugged .600 with a triple and 5 HR's for the Bethel Royals. He appeared in 21 games and had 0 errors on the season. Flaherty played in 32 games for the Royals in 2009, hitting .263 with 16 RBI's. Flaherty returned from serving in Iraq during the 2007 season and started 16 games for the Royals in 2008 - batting .321, and he committed 0 errors during the 2008 season.
David Freed - A 2009 MVHS graduate: As a freshman in 2010, Freed pitched 36 innings for Bethel University, striking out 18 and yielding a .270 opponent batting average. He was a 3-year varsity player for the Mustangs; an All-State HM selection as a junior, and All-Conference and All-State Academic as a senior.
Ian Goldsmith - A 2009 MVHS graduate: Goldsmith played on the JV baseball team in 2010. Goldsmith also plays on the St. John's football team. He was a 3-year varsity player for the Mustangs; an All-State and All-State Academic selection as a senior.
Mark Hamburger - A 2005 MVHS graduate: Hamburger was traded by the Twins in the summer of 2008 for Eddie Guardado. In 2010, he has moved up to the Bakersfield Blaze farm team where early in the year he has a a 2.86 ERA in 22 innings pitched with 20 K's and 6 walks. In 2009, he pitched for the Class A affiliate of the Texas Rangers in Hickory, North Carolina; throwing 66 innings with a 4.75 ERA, striking out 55 and walking just 25. While at Elizabethton in the Appalachian League (Rookie) in 2008, he was named the league's Closer of the Year, earning 13 saves and striking out 40 in 36 innings pitched. The word is that his fastball was sometimes clocked at 96 miles per hour the summer of 2008. Hamburger was signed as a free agent by the Minnesota Twins in June, 2007. He pitched for the Gulf Coast Twins in 2007 - appearing in 8 games and posting a 2-1 record with a 1.20 ERA. He was a Junior College All-American in 2006 at Mesabi Range Community and Technical College - He was 11-0 with a .065 ERA for the 2006 season.
Tory Herman - A 2006 MVHS graduate: As a senior in 2010 at Gustavus, Herman appeared in 31 games, producing a .327 batting average with 7 doubles, 2 triples and a HR. Herman was a junior at Gustavus Adolphus College in 2009 - appearing in 37 games, hitting .310, slugging .437, and appearing in 9 games as a pitcher as well. As a sophomore in 2008, Herman started all 39 games for Gustavus and finished with a .344 OBA. He also made two arrearances on the mounds and finished with a 1-0 record. As a freshman in 2007, he appeared in 6 varsity games as a position player, and as a pitcher he made 8 appearances, posting a record of 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA - the 3rd best ERA for the Gusties.
Brian Marshik - A 2007 MVHS graduate: As a junior at the College of St. Scholastica in 2010, Marshik appeared in 41 games, producing an on-base percentage of .419 with 25 RBI's, 9 doubles and he was 10 for 10 in stolen bases. He fielded .955 in the infield for the Saints. In 2009, Marshik led the team with a .431 batting average and slugged .603. He was 12 for 14 in stolen base attempts. Marshik was named All-Conference and St. Scholastica 2009 Most Valuable Player, and the Saints won the conference title and appeared in the NCAA D-III Midwest Regional. As a freshman at the in 2008, Marshik played in 18 games and finished with a .404 BA, scored 20 runs and was 6 for 8 on steal attempts. He earned All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition in 2007 for the Mustangs.Paul Myers - A 2008 MVHS graduate: As a sophomore pitcher for the University of Minnesota - Crookston, Myers logged 51 innings pitched in 13 appearances and he had 1 complete game. As a freshman, Myers threw 25 innings in 16 appearances. Myers was a 2-year varsity pitcher for the Mustangs.
Jesse Nickols - A 2009 MVHS graduate: Nickols appeared in 9 games for the Bethel Royals, produicing a 3.38 ERA with 7 K's and only 2 walks. He was a 2-year varsity player for the Mustangs, and an All-State HM selection as a senior.
Brandon Porten - A 2007 MVHS graduate: As a junior at the College of St. Scholastica in 2010, Porten made the most of his 5 plate appearances in producing 2 walks for the Saints. In 2009, Porten hit .286 and had a .444 on-base percentage in 4 games for the Saints. The Saints won the conference title and appeared in the NCAA D-III Midwest Regional. In 2008, Porten primarily played JV and made the most of 5 varsity AB's - delivering a double and 2 RBI's. In 2007 for the Mustangs, he was named All-Conference and was selected as the Mustang Award winner by his teammates.

Seth Rosin - A 2007 MVHS graduate: As a junior at the University of Minnesota, Rosin was the Friday night pitcher for the 2010 Big Ten Champion Gophers, producing a 8-4 record in 95 innings pitched, and 88 K's to 12 walks on the year going into the NCAA Regional competition. in 2009 as a sophomore, Rosin made 15 starts, finishing 7-1 with a very nice ratio of 65 K's to 16 BB's. He started game 2 for the Gophers in the NCAA Regional. In the Summer of 2009, Rosin threw 33 innings in the Cape Cod Summer league, posting a 1.87 ERA. As a true freshman in 2008, Rosin made 14 appearances, and posted a team low 4.34 ERA. He logged 47+ innings and had 32 K's against 11 BB's. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in June, 2007, and he opted to enroll at Minnesota. In 2007 for the Mustangs, Rosin was All-State, All-Conference, and selected to play in the Lions All-Star game.
Luke Ross - A 2007 MVHS graduate: As a junior at Wheaton College in Illinois in 2010, Ross appeared in 11 games and produced a .286 on-base average. In 2009, Ross started 5 and appeared in a total of 13 games for the Thunder. In 2008 as a freshman, Ross appeared in 10 games, primarily as a defensive specialist. He made the most of his 6 2008 AB's on the season, producing 2 hits and 3 RBI's.Zach Walen - A 2007 MVHS graduate: At Bethel University, Walen pitched for the Royals' JV team in 2009 and 2010.
Phil Wessberg - A 2008 MVHS graduate: As a sophomore in 2010, Wessberg appeared in 14 games for Bethany Lutheran, producing a .455 batting average in 11 at-bats. In 2009, he appeared in 8 games; in 8 innings pitched, Wessberg produced a 1.12 ERA. He was a Mustang captain in 2008.

Adam Runkel - A 2007 MVHS graduate: As a sophomore at Anoka Ramsey Community College in 2009, Runkel played SS for the Golden Rams. He also played for the Rams in 2008.
2006
Blake Searles - A 2006 MVHS graduate: As a junior at St. Thomas University, Searles thre 12 innings in 7 appearances for the Tommies who won the D-III National Championship. As a freshman pitcher at UMD, Searles made 10 relief appearances and started one game for the Bulldogs.
Sam Weber - A 2006 MVHS graduate: As a junior at Augsburg College in 2009, Weber started 5 games on the mound for the Auggies, throwing 27 innings, and producing a nice 26 K's to 10 BB's ratio. In 2008, Weber started 9 games, logged 47+ innings, recorded 2 complete games, and had 53 K's against 27 BB's. As a freshman. he started 6 games, and appeared in relief in 2 games - posting a 3-1 record with 31 K's in 31 innings pitched.
2005
Billy Gazich - A 2005 MVHS graduate: Gazich played at North Dakota State University. As a junior, Gazich started 14 games, had 2 HR's and a fielding percentage of 1.000. As a sophomore, Gazich played in 23 games for the Bison.
2004
Kevin Morel - A 2004 MVHS graduate: As a junior pitcher in 2008, Morel made 12 appearances, started 9 games, and logged 47+ innings - 2nd most on the team. As a redshirt sophomore in 2007, Morel led the Bemidji State Beavers with 57.1 innings pitched, recording 35 K's and 19 walks. He appeared in 15 games during the 2006 season.
Lex Reinke - A 2004 MVHS graduate: As a senior in 2008, Reinke started all 44 games for the Mustangs, finishing his very successful college career with a .313 BA and .449 SLUG in his last season. As a junior in 2007, Reinke is competing at Southwest Minnesota State where he appeared in 37 games - posting a .372 batting average and .512 slugging percentage. In 2006, as a sophomore, he played in 48 games and hit .310 with four HR's. He tied for the team high with 16 multi-hit games.

Tieg Herman - A 2003 MVHS graduate: Herman played at Concordia College in Moorhead. He pitched in 7 games in 2006, all as a starter, and his record was 2-2 on the season.
Luke Johnson - A 2003 MVHS graduate: As a senior in 2008, Johnson completed a very successful collegiate career playing in 39 games, and his .339 BA was second on the team. As a junior in 2007, Johnson appeared in 37 games for the UMD Bulldogs - he fielded .969 on the season. He was 11 for 44 in 2006 as a sophomore, with 3 RBI's in the season's first game, and he was a perfect 4 for 4 in stolen bases.
Josh Schultheis - A 2003 MVHS graduate: Schultheis was a senior captain at St. Olaf College in 2007 - helping his team to a NCAA Regional apearance and hitting .331 on the season. In 2006, Schultheis was named to the NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team, and his 2006 stats include a .352 batting average and .576 slugging percentage

Matt Carter - A 2002 MVHS graduate: Carter played at St. Olaf College in 2003 and 2004.
Andy Peters - A 2002 MVHS graduate, Peters completed his University of Minnesota career in 2006 where he was named UM MVP for the 2006 season. In his senior season, he pitched in 27 games, all in relief, with a 3.38 ERA and 7 saves.

Josh Howard - A 2001 MVHS graduate: Howard played at St. Thomas University from 2002-2005. Howard was a MIAC All-Conference player in both 2004 and 2005.
2000
Brad Baglien - A 2000 MVHS graduate, Baglien played at St. Olaf College from 2001-2004. Baglien was a MIAC All-Conference player in 2002, 2003 and 2004, and was a team captain in 2003 and 2004. Baglien was a member of the 1999 Tri-City Legion team that won a National Championship.
Dan Genung - A 2000 MVHS graduate: Genung attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
Steve Grasley - A 2000 MVHS graduate: Grtasley was a 2-time all-state baseball player for the Mustangs. Grasley played baseball at Creighton University and graduated with a Communications degree. In the 2002 season, Grasley made 27 pitching appearances with 11 saves for Creighton. Grasley was a member of the 1999 Tri-City Legion National Championship team, and he was selected to the World series All-Tournament Team. Grasley was a free-agent signing for the Seattle Mariners in 2004 - Appearing in 16 games, the right-hander finished the 2004 minor league season with a 3.18 ERA and the top strikeout-to-walk ratio in the farm system at 46-to-1. He was named to the Mariners All Minor League team in 2005, and his career minor league record in the Mariners system was 13-0.
Chris Weber - A 2000 MVHS graduate, Weber attended Des Moines Area Community College.
Pete Wiedewitsch - A 2000 MVHS graduate, Weidewitsch attended Iowa Central Community College, and graduated from Creighton University with a degree in Communications.

Matt Pilon - A 1999 MVHS graduate, Pilon played for St. John's University where he hit .406 and slugged .587 as a senior in 2003.

Matt Brosseau - A 1994 MVHS graduate: Brosseau was All-Conference as a junior and a senior, and was named All-State as a senior. He was a three time letterwinner at the University of Minnesota

Colin Brackeen - A1993 MVHS graduate: Brackeen was an All-American at St. Olaf College and led the nation in strikeouts/game with 14.2 as a senior. In 1997, he was drafted in the 15th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. Following several years in the minor leagues, Brackeen then pitched for the St. Paul Saints.
1982
Chris Tahti - A 1982 MVHS graduate, Tahti was All-State in 1982. He can be found on the Minnesota Top 100 Swim Times list in four different events. Tahti was a 2-sport athlete at the University of Minnesota, competing in swimming as well. In 1985, he received the Jerry McCaul Memorial Award as a member of the UM Swim Team. He is a former MVHS Swimming Coach, he coached MVHS Sophomore Baseball in 1988, and he coached MVHS JV Baseball in 2005.

Tim Tahti - A 1980 MVHS graduate, Tahti was All-State in 1980. He played four years at the University of California, Long Beach.
1979
Mike Rantz - A 1979 MVHS graduate, Mike was drafted by the Seattle Mariners. He chose instead to go to St. Thomas University where he played for four years. He was drafted in 1983 by the Oakland A's; he played at Oakland's minor league affiliate in Medford, Oregon at the same time as Terry Steinbach.
