Parents of Mounds View High School
While it's only January, for planning ahead purposes, below is some schedule information about baseball this spring.
An informational meeting about the season for all parents and players is scheduled for Tuesday, March 2, 7:00PM or Tuesday, March 9, 7:00PM, both at Mounds View High School
Captains practices began the first week in January, and will continue up until the season begins. They are held each Tuesday and Thursday evening, 8:30PM - 10:00PM, at MVHS.

Start of Season / Spring Break
The Minnesota State High School League provides that freshmen tryouts can be held earlier than the official start date. We will conduct tryouts for ninth graders the week of Monday, March 8, 2010 - thus providing the freshmen with an introduction to the program with the coaching staff totally dedicated to them. During this week, a combination of practice and tryout activities will be conducted. An initial cut of ninth grade players will be made this week.
The Mounds View Schools Spring Break is the week of Monday, March 15, 2010.
The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) official start date for Baseball is Monday, March 22, 2010. All students, freshmen - seniors, will begin practice that week. During this week, a combination of practice and tryout activities will be conducted. The Diamond Club has generously provided funds to conduct some practices in the Hamline University Fieldhouse as well as the Shoreview Ice Arena.

Teams
Mounds View High School
Approximately 30 players are selected for the Varsity/JV, and 15 players each for the Sophomore and Freshman teams. Thus, a grand total of 60 players.
With 80-90 players expected to tryout for baseball (25+ freshmen), cuts are necessary. A series of cuts will be made the week of freshmen tryouts (Friday, March 12) as mentioned above, and also by Wednesday, March 31.
Practice and Game Schedule
The game schedule for all 4 teams is available on the team website: http://moundsviewbaseball.com/Schedule.html. It is also available on the Mounds View School
The practice schedule for the first 4 weeks is on the website Schedule page as mentioned previously. Throughout the season, the Schedule page will be updated each week with day to day practice and game schedules for all 4 teams. Any daily changes (e.g. rain outs) will be emailed to you and posted on the website.
For the players, I keep the team bulletin board at school up to date with schedules and other information as well.
The Section and State Playoffs occur in the general timeframe when Senior Graduation Parties are many times scheduled. Please be aware of the playoff schedule if you are scheduling a Grad Party; and know that weather can always change things (e.g. rain could potentially move a game to a Saturday that wasn't originally scheduled). Sundays are days that the MSHSL does not allow high school activities; so these are "safe" days to schedule events like Grad Parties.
Spring Sports Registration
The Athletic Office will begin taking registrations for spring sports on Monday, March 1.
Athletes are not allowed to practice until all registration material is completed.
