The Mustangs were unable to capitalize in the 4th inning after they loaded the bases with 0 outs; Klein proceeded to strike out 3 Mustangs hitters to get himself out of the jam. The Mustangs' 2 - 5 hitters each had multi-hit games: Porten, Kurkowski, Anderson and Ian Goldsmith. The Mustangs continued good defensive play, making the routine plays and committing no errors. Paul Myers started and went 5 and 2/3 innings. Myers did not have his best command, but he competed hard, and gave the Mustangs a chance to win the ballgame. Myers didn't have his best stuff, but competed hard to give the Mustangs an opportunity to win the game. Matt Harris provided 2 innings of scoreless relief to close out the game and earn a save. Offensively, the Mustangs executed at the plate and on the basepaths to create pressure and generate some runs - a bunt for a hit by David Freed, Andy Gallagher advancing to third on a ball in the dirt, a first and third early break by Dan Reichert that created a balk, and a Reichert sacrifice fly all contributed to Mustangs runs. Erik Anderson was 3/4 with a double and an RBI. Brandon Porten was 2/3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Andy Kurkowski was 2/4 with an RBI. The injury bug continues to plague the Mustangs: SS Adam Runkel is out up to 4 weeks with a broken hand suffered this past weekend, and Andy Kurkowksi suffered a severly sprained ankle sliding into 2B in today's game. On a positive note, senior captain Brian Marshik saw his first action of the season, returning from a broken hand - he singled and scored a run in his first at-bat of the season.
